Dental Prosthetics

The wide range of services in our clinic comprises also dental prosthetics; removable dentures and fixed tooth replacement such as crowns and dental bridges.
The removable dentures are those that may be taken out of one’s mouth and the fixed ones, in turn, are installed permanently.
The removable dentures may be divided into two kinds:

  • dentures made of acrylic (butt joint)
  • skeletal dentures (framework is made of a special chromium-cobalt alloy)

The fixed prostheses include dental crowns and bridges. Metal-ceramic crowns are most frequently used in our clinic. Its inner shell, called a cap, is a very thin (0.3-0.5 mm) metal alloy cast. The cap is covered with a few layers of ceramic and vacuum-fired in a special ceramic oven. In many developed countries the caps are usually made of gold since it is highly unreactive with human tissues.

Porcelain is recommended as the best solution since:

  • it is resistant to abrasion
  • it is long-lasting
  • preserves its colour

We have only recently become able to offer all-ceramic crowns to our patients. Their inner shells are made of porcelain instead of metals. Such crowns due to their aesthetic qualities are found useful in front teeth restoration. Zirconium-based bridges have become the alternative to common metal-based bridges.

Like the all-ceramic crowns, zirconium-based bridges:

  • prove durable and resistant to abrasion
  • serve as thermal insulation when in contact with cold and hot food or drinks
  • do not cause allergic reactions
  • allow to save more surface of the tooth while shaping it

PORCELAIN VENEERS
Porcelain veneers are very thin (0.3-0.6mm) porcelain shells that are bonded to the front side of teeth with special liquid cements. They are applied in order to make cosmetic changes of discoloured teeth or to alter their shapes.
Porcelain veneers guarantee the minimum loss of tooth tissues and a splendid aesthetic effect.
